Real Madrid vs Barcelona "Raul Press Conference"

Post  Senel on Tue Dec 09, 2008 7:31 am

Raul Press Conference: "WE ARE FAR FROM BEING DEAD";were aware of the importance of the shirt we wear and we won't give up"

Raúl believes that Real Madrid can beat Barcelona at Camp Nou in el
Clásico on Saturday and hinted that Bernd Schuster is just playing mind
games with the media.

Los Merengues' captain did not agree with
his coach's declarations after the defeat by Sevilla on Sunday evening
that the team had no chance of winning against the Blaugrana.

Despite
being nine points behin Barça and being distracted by talk of a crisis
off the pitch and a gloom on it, Raúl has issued a rallying cry ahead
of the visit to the league leaders.

"The team is convinced that
we can win against Barça. We know that they are in great form, with a
lot of confidence and that it will be very difficult, but we can take
all three points," Marca quote him as saying.

"We will never let
our heads drop and give up on anything. Nobody should ever believe that
we are finished as we still have a lot to prove. We know what it means
to defend this badge.

"Schuster, behind closed doors, has told
us that we are capable of beating any team. We know that we can do a
lot of damage to Barcelona on Saturday.

"If we lose or draw then
there are still plenty of games left and we are still in the Champions
League. We are going to try and have a great game against Zenit, then
play on Saturday and finish the year against Valencia.

"The most important thing for everyone to remember is the prestige of the club."

Raúl
does not believe that Real Madrid's supporters would have been upset at
the weekend by the team's late defeat against Sevilla after they had
come back from two goals behind.

"It was a hard because we lost. People went away fairly happy because they saw the effort the team made," he explained.

The
player that rose through the youth ranks at Madrid after leaving
Atlético when their academy was disbanded by Jesús Gil, was unhappy to
hear that Míchel had stepped down.

"Míchel's resignation is not
good for the club. One has to respect his decision because when someone
leaves in the middle of a season, but I think it was the right moment
he felt," he said of the Madrid youth set-up director.

"The
youth team has always played an important role. I think it has worked
very well and there are always cycles when better players are produced.
Now Bueno is with us and is doing well."
